Before they began competing in North America, Ford and Ferguson had a partnership to market tractors under the terms of a "Handshake Agreement" worked out between Henry Ford and Harry Ferguson. The two companies went their separate ways when Ford launched the famous Ford 8N in 1947. This fun pedal tractor is styled on the popular Ferguson TO-20, the first tractor that Ferguson marketed in North America (based largely on the European TE-20). Virtually identical to the 8N in most respects and competitively priced, the two companies set out on a rivalry that would last for decades. This toy pedal tractor represents a machine that helped kick off the Golden Age of American agriculture.
